It is the second year in a row that Sumy State University has got into 5% of the best universities in the world, getting the fourth place among Ukrainian universities and confirming its position in the QS ranking despite some drastic changes in the ranking methodology and extension of universities.

25-27 May SSU held the IV International scientific and practical conference ‘Advanced Information Systems and Technologies, AIST 2016.’ The scientific event was supported by Ukrainian Federation of Informatics. The organizers were the Faculty of ElIT (Section of Information Technology of Design) with the assistance of IBM and AMC Bridge IT companies.

Oleksandr Pohrebniak, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of Nanoelectronics at SSU Faculty of Electronics and Informational Technologies was included to prestigious rating of Ukrainian academics and takes the 70^th place with h-index of 25.

SSU launched open online-courses ‘Examenarium’. All registered ‘Examenarium’ students got a free access to the majors in the following training directions: Economics, Marketing, Management, Law, Finance, Banking and Insurance. Training will continue until the beginning of October 2016. A free certificate will be given to those students who complete the courses successfully. The results of these courses can be considered during admission of future students to SSU.

May 27 before SSU Medical Institute Foundation Day and Children's Day the fair ‘The best is for the children’ was held. During a charity exhibition children’s hand-made crafts were presented. Students and teachers were buying these crafts, thus donating their money for charity to children-migrants and children of the Department of Oncology.

The 2016 E-MRS Spring Meeting (European Materials Research Society) was held in Lille (France). About 3000 participants from over 60 different European countries took part in it. Every year E-MRS encourages students and postgraduates by introducing a new Graduate Student Award.
